Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before reserving a vehicle with us.
Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms of Service govern the use of the rentcorfu.com website and the car rental services offered through it. By accessing this website, completing a reservation, or collecting a vehicle, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms in full. If you do not accept any part of these terms, please do not proceed with a booking.
rentcorfu.com operates as a car rental platform serving customers who pick up and return vehicles at locations across Corfu, Greece, including Corfu International Airport (CFU), the New Port, and the Old Town area. These terms apply to all rental transactions facilitated through this platform, regardless of the nationality of the renter or the payment method used.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. The version published at the time of your reservation applies to your rental agreement. Continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Eligibility Requirements
To rent a vehicle through rentcorfu.com, you must meet the following minimum requirements at the time of pickup:
- You must be at least 21 years of age. Drivers aged 21 to 24 may rent standard economy and compact vehicles; a young driver surcharge applies on selected categories.
- For premium, SUV, convertible, and 7-seater minivan categories, the minimum age is 25.
- You must hold a full, valid driving license that has been held for a minimum of one year prior to the rental start date.
- EU and UK driving licenses are accepted without additional documentation. US, Canadian, and Australian licenses issued in Latin script are also accepted.
- Drivers whose license is issued in a non-Latin script (Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Japanese, Korean, etc.) must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside the original national license.
- All drivers, including additional drivers added to the rental agreement, must present their original license at pickup. Photographs or digital copies are not accepted as a substitute.
Failure to produce valid documentation at the time of vehicle collection will result in the reservation being cancelled. In such cases, the rental fee may be forfeited in accordance with the cancellation policy below.
Bookings and Cancellations
Reservations made through rentcorfu.com are confirmed upon receipt of the booking confirmation email. A confirmed reservation constitutes a binding agreement between the renter and rentcorfu.com, subject to these terms.
Free cancellation is available on most vehicle categories when the cancellation is made at least 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup may incur a cancellation fee equal to one day's rental charge. Cancellations made less than 6 hours before pickup, or where the renter fails to appear at the agreed pickup location (no-show), may result in forfeiture of the full rental amount paid.
Amendment requests (change of dates, vehicle category, or pickup location) are accepted subject to availability and must be made at least 24 hours before pickup. Amendments made within 24 hours are not guaranteed and may be treated as a new booking.
rentcorfu.com reserves the right to cancel a reservation in exceptional circumstances, including but not limited to vehicle unavailability due to an accident or force majeure event. In such cases, the full rental amount will be refunded within 5 to 10 business days and an alternative vehicle of equal or superior category will be offered where available.
Pricing and Payment
All prices displayed on rentcorfu.com are quoted in Euros (EUR) and include the base rental rate, standard third-party liability insurance, and unlimited mileage unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
The following items are available as optional extras and are charged in addition to the base rental rate:
- GPS navigation device - available on request at a daily rate
- Infant, toddler, and booster child seats - charged per seat per day
- Additional driver - a per-day surcharge applies for each additional named driver
- Young driver surcharge - applies to drivers aged 21 to 24
- Full coverage upgrade (zero excess) - optional add-on charged per day
- One-way rental between Corfu locations - available at no extra fee; mainland drop-off incurs an additional charge
Payment is accepted by debit card (Visa and Mastercard) and credit card. No security deposit is required at the time of booking. On collection, the rental agent may verify card validity but will not place a hold on funds unless a damage excess waiver has not been purchased and vehicle damage occurs during the rental period.
Fuel policy is full-to-full: the vehicle is provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, a refuelling charge at the prevailing local pump rate, plus an administration fee, will apply.
Vehicle Use Rules
Vehicles rented through rentcorfu.com must be used lawfully and in accordance with Greek traffic regulations and the applicable laws of the European Union. The renter is fully responsible for the vehicle during the rental period and must return it in the same condition as received, subject to normal wear and tear.
The following activities are strictly prohibited and will void all insurance coverage and expose the renter to full liability for damages:
- Off-road driving on unpaved tracks, beaches, riverbeds, or unmaintained terrain. This includes the unmaintained coastal tracks near Issos beach and the northern approaches to Cape Drastis.
- Use of the vehicle in any form of competitive driving, racing, or time trial.
- Sub-letting, re-renting, or otherwise allowing any person not named on the rental agreement to drive the vehicle.
- Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability.
- Transporting the vehicle by ferry or sea crossing without prior written consent from rentcorfu.com. Travel to mainland Greece or other Greek islands is not permitted without explicit approval.
- Use of the vehicle for commercial purposes, including courier or delivery services.
- Smoking inside the vehicle. A cleaning surcharge applies if evidence of smoking is found on return.
In the event of an accident, breakdown, or theft, the renter must notify rentcorfu.com immediately and contact the local Greek police (dial 100) to obtain an official accident report. Failure to obtain a police report may invalidate insurance coverage.
Insurance and Liability
All vehicles are provided with basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Third-Party Liability (TPL) insurance as required by Greek law. This coverage is included in the base rental rate and provides protection against damage to third parties and partial protection against damage to the rental vehicle.
Under the basic CDW, the renter retains a financial excess (deductible). The excess amount varies by vehicle category and is disclosed at the time of booking. The renter is liable for damage up to the excess amount, regardless of fault, unless the optional full coverage upgrade has been purchased.
The optional full coverage upgrade reduces the excess to zero and includes protection against glass damage (windscreen, windows, mirrors), tyre damage, and theft. This upgrade must be added at the time of booking or at the rental desk before vehicle collection. It cannot be added retrospectively after damage has occurred.
Insurance coverage does not apply in cases where the vehicle has been used in breach of these terms, including but not limited to off-road use, drink driving, or driving by an unauthorized driver. In such cases, the renter bears full financial responsibility for all damage, recovery, and administrative costs.
Personal belongings left in the vehicle are not covered by any insurance provided by rentcorfu.com. Renters are advised to ensure their personal travel insurance covers belongings left unattended in a vehicle.
Limitation of Liability
rentcorfu.com acts as a rental platform and intermediary. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Greek and European Union law, rentcorfu.com's total liability to any renter for any claim arising out of or in connection with a rental transaction shall not exceed the total rental fee paid by the renter for the specific reservation giving rise to the claim.
rentcorfu.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, travel disruption, missed connections, or itinerary changes arising from a vehicle being unavailable, delayed, or returned early.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that vehicle descriptions, availability, and pricing shown on this website are accurate. However, we do not warrant that the website is free of errors, and we accept no liability for typographical mistakes or temporary inaccuracies in displayed information, provided that any material error is corrected promptly upon discovery.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hellenic Republic (Greece). Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms, or any rental agreement concluded through rentcorfu.com, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Corfu, Greece, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in the renter's country of residence require otherwise.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be deemed severed from the remaining terms, which shall continue in full force and effect.
